WELCOME TO CCCA ARTSWALK, 2012!
We are pleased to announce the Columbia County Council on the Arts (CCCA) 18th annual ArtsWalk, the region’s largest arts festival celebrating the Hudson Valley’s most spirited and creative artists. Activities will highlight the arts in all their forms!
Beginning a week earlier this year with a special event! Thirty-one of the country's finest Plein-Air artists will paint the incredible vistas of Olana for three days, beginning September 27th and culminating on Saturday, September 29th with an elegant cocktail reception and auction of the artists’ works.
There will be two consecutive days of Literary programming featuring readings by some of the country's hottest, bestselling authors; our talented array of member artists show their work in 'Windows on Warren Street (and Beyond)'; have the opportunity to meet artists and purchase their work at our Second Annual Artists’ Marketplace at Riverfront Park on the banks of the beautiful Hudson River; the CCCA gallery will host a special 'Postcard Show', a fundraiser where postcard-sized original works of art will be offered for sale (a great opportunity to own your favorite artists' work for less than the cost of a frame!). There will be musical performances by some of the areas best-known groups presented by Slink Moss at Savoia in Hudson, street performers, face painting, and a super-special ArtsWalk Kids event that will 'encompass the world'! This year our performance arts programming will feature two special events: a 'talk-back' with the composer of the Broadway musical 'A Tale of Two Cities', including special musical performances by the 20-piece orchestra and actors who will perform in The Two of Us' production of the play during ArtsWalk weekend! The CCCA's Second Annual Student Playwriting Festival will highlight the talent of emerging young playwrites as their one-act plays are performed in front of a live audience!
Back by popular demand is our much-loved 'Art in the Landscape' CCCA artist studio tour! Tour the beautiful countryside of Columbia County and stop in to visit a diverse and talented array of member artists! Visit and tour their studios, get to speak with them about their work, their artistic process, even purchase a special piece for your collection! This is a unique behind-the-scenes opportunity to view art 'from the other side of the canvas'!
